Cold Open:
there’s nothing I love more than a crazy situation that leads to love an office worker who believes that love is nothing more than a distraction ends up taking in a man who is down bad on his luck on the condition that he cooks and cleans in her home the catch this man is pretending to be gay so the woman doesn’t feel unsafe past traumas are shaping both their interactions with each other but it seems like love makes come through in the end
Intro:
welcome back to The Wonder of anime YouTube channel my name is Lisa and in this video I am going to be talking about a new Mana that I just read that is available in print and that is the lady and her Butler a big thank you to 7 se’s Entertainment for sending me an arc so I can read it and tell you guys my thoughts about it the lady And Her Butler is a web tune created by Jade and it is about a woman named sua who is a career woman and she is really dedicated to her job she just moved into a new apartment and one night while she’s at home avoiding unpacking and cleaning a man comes in who happened to be a victim of like a rental apartment scam the man’s name is tesu and he is down so bad that he begs and pleas leads with sua to let him stay on the condition that he will cook and clean for her the catch is that tesu lied to sua about his sexuality he told her that he’s gay in order for her to feel safe and trust him sua feels bad for tesu and she figures out you know let me just let him stay here and that is the beginning of their cabil itation with each other [Music]
First Impression
just on reading the premise alone I knew that this was going to be a cute read but I really was under the impression that it was going to be very light-hearted and fluffy and I was just not prepared for the amount of deep cut backstory that this includes for both of the main characters sua has shaped her life basically trying to avoid committing the same mistakes that her mother has her mom always put men before her as a tactic for survival and that really did number on sua because as a result sua was neglected by her mom she instead shifts her Focus to academics and then her career and she is just focused on moving up the corporate ladder swearing off relationships this for me definitely hit home because I had witness growing up a lot of family systems that I didn’t really agree with and I swore that when I was older and that I would be in my relationship ship that I would move differently because I didn’t want to repeat some of the same mistakes that people in my family had committed and I definitely think a lot of people can relate to seeing something in childhood and being like I absolutely want no parts in this tesu on the other hand he lost his job due to his ex and basically an understanding that they had at work where he was made to look like the bad guy and at the time him and his ex had moved in together so this put a lot of strain on the relationship and they ended up breaking up and we see him now while he’s living with sua kind of worry about his next moves and getting a new job based on his portfolio like I said these Back stories really kind of threw me in for a loop cuz on the premise alone I just thought this would be very light-hearted and fluffy but I’m really glad that they exist and are adding this rough texture to the story cuz I’m very curious on how it’s going to get to the point where they fall in love with each other
Highlights
for me in this initial volume the standout moments definitely have to be sua and how she’s interacting with tesu based on the assumption that he’s gay because him being gay puts her guard down because she is not looking at this as a man that she would ever in a million years like have feelings for because she swears off love so she treats other men a certain way because she doesn’t want them to catch feelings for her or her to catch feelings for them so her thoughts and interactions with tesu you can see her letting her guard down and her thinking like H he’s attractive H he’s such a sweet guy like wow I can’t believe he’s in this type of predic predicament based on his actions with me so far and I think that’s only because she thinks he’s gay if he was if she knew that he was straight she would have this wall up and she wouldn’t be seeing him at this light the whole gay pretense just unguard her and allows her to look at him differently I also think that it’s interesting that you kind of see her developing a crush even though she may not acknowledge it based on the context clues and how it’s reading so far it definitely looked like she’s developing a crush on him but she may not be aware cuz she’s like oh he’s gay like he’s not even somebody that is on the market for me or would ever you know anything would ever happen between us as wild as this like hey this stranger is now living with me scenario is I do think the wild craziness of it just really puts these two people who probably would never have crossed paths before together and we already see that paying off another moment that I think of is sua messing up uh T’s laptop and she feels really bad and she ends up replacing reping it but not only just replacing it she actually gets advice from someone on what someone who is a graphic designer would need and she goes all out and balls out on like this desktop with the best graphic card situation to make it up to him and although she did break his laptop which is preventing him from getting work she did definitely go overboard and the fact that she went overboard for somebody that she is just getting to know is a little like hm girl how are you thinking about this man but it’s good to see because I think that she has been closed off for so long due to the trauma with her mom this is like the first couple of steps of her getting to a place where she’s like oh this is actually what it’s like to have people in your life that you care about and perhaps see in different lights overall this is just the first volume and I believe in total there’s like hundred some chapters so I’m very curious how many volumes will be in this series the first volume contains 13 of the episodes compiled together so there’s a long way to go but being that it is a web tune the story does Move Along faster and gives you a lot of context in a short amount of time so I’m curious to see where this relationship is going and when specifically the ties will change because that to me is is always the moment where you’re like okay I am locked in and I’m ready to see these two go in the direction that they need to go I also think based on how the the last couple chapters ended there is going to be more misunderstandings with the fact that tesu is lying about being gay and I don’t know I have a feeling that sua is going to be trying to set people up and she’s GNA try to make him happy and in comedy and drama is going to ensue but I am ready for it but those are just my early thoughts my first impression on the lady and her Butler I am so excited to keep reading this story and seeing where it goes I really am looking forward to the exploration of sua dealing with the trauma from her mom and how she goes from that to then ending up in a relationship because I think we all know that’s where this is going but thank you guys so much for checking out this video and if there are any Manas or mangas that you would love my thoughts my first impressions any recommendations that you think I would like let me know in the comments below but I am so excited to keep on reading this story and I’ll be back soon with another manga or Mana or anime video there’s the possibilities aren’t endless but thank you guys so much for watching and I will see you in the next video peace out
