The story centers Na Aejoon, a high school teacher who lives a pretty normal life on the surface. He goes to work, eats, and sleeps….and fans out over his favorite idol group member, Choi Siyeol. Na Aejoon is more than content with fanboying over Choi Siyeol in secret.
One day, while Na Aejoon is working at school, he bumps into none other than Choi Siyeol?!? At his school?!?? As it turns out, Choi Siyeol is filming a special at the school and must now work closely to Na Aejoon. Na Aejoon is freaking out about working in close proximity to his bias and trying to act chill about it. Meanwhile, Choi Siyeol seems to be intent on getting closer to Na Aejoon.
My Thoughts
I love a bunch of shenanigans, and that seems to be exactly what is happening here. Na Aejoon is living every fangirls dream. A random opportunity that forces proximity? Trying to act like you’re not the biggest fan? Your bias trying to win you over?? This is what fanfic dreams are made of! Na Aejoon perfectly captures what we all believe we would do in this situation.
This first volume covers 16 chapters and each one gets funnier as the story goes on. As Na Aejoon is freaking out over Choi Siyeol, we learn that Choi Siyeol definitely has other motives to why he’s trying so hard to get close to Na Aejoon. The reveal ups the ante but also adds another level of whimsy to the story because it’s clear that Choi Siyeol is misunderstanding everything. And I LOVE a misunderstanding that only gets worse!
My only complaint is that I need the rest of the story, ASAP! The volume ends right when things are about to get steamy and I need to know what happens next immediately. I fear (and am looking forward to) the misunderstanding taking a life of its own. I also can’t wait for Choi Siyeol to find out how big of a fan Na Aejoon really is. My Bias is Showing?! is such a fun concept and it’s being executed so well. I am patiently waiting for volume 2.
