Day 16 of #MarchMangaMadness: X by CLAMP and published by Viz.
I wanted to highlight my X volumes during this challenge for two reasons, aside from the fact that I love this beautiful and deeply twisted story.
The first thing you may notice in these pictures is how many tabs are on these volumes. If you’ve been following me, you know that these past few years a big project of mine has been my CLAMP ReRead series. In this series, I am rereading all of CLAMP’s officially licensed manga in the US in chronological order. I recently completed the X portion and split it into 6 videos, one for each volume. For this, each tab color represents a theme I’ve covered. I am so proud of this series and how much love I’ve poured into it. I really took my time, did it my own way, and love how it turned out. The tabs represent how much thought and care I put into X when covering it for my series. I always remove the tabs when I’m done but I haven’t gotten around to it because I’m lazy.
The second thing is the condition of these books. I am a manga lover! So of course, that means I take care of my collection. My manga are my most prized possessions. I say all that to say, the quality of these omnibuses is so disappointing. In my first video, I pointed out that I’ve owned the 1st volume since 2011 so I thought that’s why it was falling apart. However, as I read through the rest of the volumes (2-6) which were all purchased in 2020, they all started coming undone. These big volumes look really nice but the quality is just not there.

Overall, I hope these are reprinted in a better way in the future because I will definitely be repurchasing!
