My Spring 2023 Anime Watchlist

cover of spring 2023 anime

Can you believe it’s that time? The Spring 2023 anime season is here! This week most of my Winter anime wrap up and while I’ve only been reviewing The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague weekly, I have a few other anime I’ve been keeping up with that you will be seeing reviews for soon.

This anime season I pretty much kept up with everyone I said I was going to watch. There are some shows I’m planning to binge like Bungo Stray Dogs and In/Spectre. But now it is time to start over. The start of a new season is always exciting because there are always so many shows to check out. While I don’t always watch everything I plan to or I start and don’t finish, I still enjoy watching trailers and seeing what is to come.

For my Spring 2023 list, I think I have a pretty good mix. Even if I don’t complete everything, I will always give the first episode a try.

Disclaimer: At the time of writing this, some episode air dates, episode counts, and streaming service information is not available. I will update this list once that information is available.

The Continuation:

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Swordsmith Village-

Airing: April 9, 2023
Streaming On: Crunchyroll

Of course, I’m starting off with the big hitter, Demon Slayer! I was able to attend the special screening of episode one in theaters and am so excited for this new season. As always, I am anime only so not knowing what is coming next always adds to my excitement.

HP Meets Anime:

Mashle: Magic and Muscles

Airing: April 8, 2023
Streaming On: Crunchyroll

I love comedy anime so much, especially when they seem as insane as Mashle: Magic and Muscles does. What I’ve seen from the manga readers on Twitter has let me know this is right up my alley with how wacky it is. I love a story that doesn’t take itself too seriously so I’m excited to check this one out.

Beautiful Fighting:

Hell’s Paradise

Airing: April 1, 2023
Streaming On: Crunchyroll
Episode Count: Not Announced Yet

If there is one thing MAPPA is going to do, it is work on anything else BUT the Yuri On Ice movie. I get super excited when I see a new animated being done by MAPPA but it does sting a bit. Anyways, I’ve only seen the trailer for Hell’s Paradise and have not looked into a synopsis yet and I am excited. Sometimes I prefer not to read the synopsis for anime because I love to see what the first episode gives and figure out the story after that. The art is beautiful and every character looks so good.

RPG and Romance:

Loving Yamada at Lv999!

Airing: April 2, 2023
Streaming On: Not Announced Yet

This anime has been on my list since I saw it on AniList last year and I CANNOT WAIT! You already know that I love LOVE and mixing that with RPG elements? Sign me right on up. From the trailers, it looks so funny and lighthearted, which I look forward to because it’s so easy to keep up with anime like that. This seems perfect for lovers of Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku. It also has a manga which you know how I love reading the manga after an anime.

A Magical Adult Romance:

A Galaxy Next Door

Airing: April 9, 2023
Streaming On: Crunchyroll

I am so ready to be in my feels with A Galaxy Next Door. An alien and a mangaka falling in love is a very cute premise and I always need that type of cuteness in my life. I also love romances centered around adults because we don’t have many.

Skipping Class:

Insomniacs After School

Airing: April 11, 2023
Streaming On: Not Announced Yet

This anime gives me the vibes that it’s going to be cute but also has the potential to hurt my feelings. Insomniacs After School is about two students suffering from insomnia who find companionship with each other. I haven’t looked too deeply into it because I want to see the story develop for myself but I do have some theories in my mind based on what I have seen.

Spring Fun:

Skip and Loafer

Airing: April 4, 2023
Streaming On: Crunchyroll

Is it a spring anime season without a high school romance? This season’s it is Skip and Loafer, which I’ve heard about but have been avoiding the manga since I knew an anime was coming. From the trailer and synopsis, it also seems very friend-group-oriented, which I’m a huge fan of!

I’m pretty sure there are more Spring anime that will come out closer to April so I’ll be updating this list if I come across any others. What will you be watching?
