Episode 4 of Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! finally gives us the answer we’ve been waiting for!
Saying Yes
In this episode, Melphie finally accepts Aristide’s marriage proposal! But it seems to me that she, or maybe both of them, aren’t completely aware that they do actually like each other. In Melphie’s inner thoughts, we can hear she is delighted to marry the Duke and spend mornings and nights looking at his gorgeous face! But she feels as if he’s marrying her for political reasons and the monster meat thing. “This must be the contract between me and the duke. There’s no bittersweet romance between us…” Girl, this man is crazy about you!
I’m okay with them both being wrong because that must mean there are plenty of opportunities for them to grow closer and admit their feelings. They crack me up because they are so smitten that they are quick to compliment each other, but then immeditely become shy about it. I love both of their personalities so much.
Daddy Problems
When Aristide speaks with Melphie’s father to sign the contract, Aristide makes it clear to him that he does like Melphie. Her father is so apprehensive, and it’s so annoying. The way he acts, you would think Melphie kills and eats people. This whole, “Why would you want my daughter? What about her reputation?” Sir, relax. Melphie is incredible. It makes me sad that they feel like she’s too weird to be wanted by anyone. Luckily, we know Aristide sees Melphie for all of who she is and desires her.
Also in episode 4, we learn that the count was the one who spread the rumors about Melphie being the “voracious villianness” to protect her research. This family makes less sense by the minute. Why would you subject your daughter to the wickedness she faced because of that rumor? And don’t get me started on the step-mother. She is so cold to Melphie! How could the count let his wife treat his daughter like that? I’m so glad Melphie is getting away.
Starting a New Life
As per the terms of their engagement, Melphie packs up her lab and her life and is off to life with Aristide. I am so excited to see this new chapter of Melphie’s life. Although she is worried that the people of Aristide’s land will not accept her, Aristide assures her they will. I am hoping everyone falls in love with Melphie the same way Aristide did. I can’t wait to see what adventures await our newly engaged faves!
Let’s talk next episode, okay? xoxox
