It’s timeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee (Mariah Carey voice!) Netflix has announced the date for the highly anticipated anime adaptation of Sakamoto Days. Part one will contain 11 episodes and is directed by Masaki Watanabe (Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO) with series composition by Taku Kishimoto (THE ONE PIECE) and Yo Moriyama (Attack on Titan) as character designer. The anime is produced by TMS Entertainment (Dr. STONE). It stars Tomokazu Sugita as Taro Sakamoto (Gintama), Nobunaga Shimazaki (WIND BREAKER) as Shin Asakura, and Ayane Sakura (My Hero Academia) as Lu Shaotang.

Taro Sakamoto used to be an unrivaled hitman, earning legendary status in the underworld. But one day, the unthinkable happened. Sakamoto fell in love. He started dating, retired, got married, and had a kid, growing overweight as a result. Though now working as a humble convenience store owner, the world of hitmen still follows him. Sakamoto, along with Shin, a young man with telepathy and an employee at his small store, will protect his humble life and family, or die trying.

Official Synopsis

Because I prefer to watch the anime first, I know nothing about the series. The premise is intriguing, though. A hitman who’s retired and living his best family man? People trying to get him out of retirement? A wife that wants her man home and not killing people? Sign me up, please!

The animation looks incredible and the cast sounds great. From the trailer, I can already tell the wife and daughter are about to be my favorite characters. I’m a sucker for a family moment! I’m doing my best to avoid all spoilers and fan talk now. January 11 can’t come sooner!
