This week’s episode of The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague was purely manifested from my review of episode 4. I absolutely love the developments between Fuyutsuki and Himoru, but I was feening for some interactions with Komori and Saejime. AND WE GOT THEM!
The Fox and the Human Guy
One thing I love about Komori and Saejime is that they are very different from Fuyutsuki and Himoru. When the episode starts, we see Saejime join Komori for lunch and he comments that her tail is flipping her skirt up. She jokes with him that he’s trying to get a peek at her underwear. Through their banter, we see both of them blushing as Saejime reveals he thinks the ears and tail are cute. Then “takes it back” saying that he means just the tail.
The next day, we see a glimpse of Komori’s hectic morning as she wakes up late and everything seems to go wrong while she gets ready for work. When she arrives at the office, yawning and obviously looking tired, Fuyutsuki offers her a type of energy snack to lift her up. Komori notices the snack has a little figure to be collected, hers being a Tanuki. When Saejime notices it, he says he used to collect them when he was a kid which inspires Komori to start collecting them in order to get a fox.
A Fairy Collector
Seemingly the next day, Komori arrives at her desk to find some figures. She initially assumes it was Fuyutsuki’s doing but then realizes Fuyutsuki is eating a different snack. As each day passes, Komori is being gifted more of the little figures. Meanwhile, our Ice Guy Himoru is trying to rack enough points up to win a George plate set for Fuyutsuki.
When Komori finally completes her collection, she’s a little sad because she knows this means the end of the “Glocu Fairy” (as she calls it) helping her out. Right on time, Saejime appears and reveals he had been the one helping her collect the figures. Queue me falling right into pieces as Saejime says he was helping her out of love…..for foxes! Come on!
At the same time, Himoru realizes he had the deadline wrong for the George give away so he and Fuyutsuki decide to combine their ones to get one plate set together. When they receive the plate set, they split it between them since it is a pair.
The Phoenix Guy and the Human
As if a Komori x Saejime episode wasn’t enough, they also decided to throw a bone for the Katori x Otanashi shippers too! After Fuyutsuki and Himoru split the plate set, they find a forlorn-looking Katori by the vending machines lamenting. After talking to him, they discover he’s sad because he believes Otonashi is not taking his love confessions seriously.
Through a series of flashbacks, we learn that Katori originally met Otonashi at his previous job, where he was a server. He ended up working at the same company as her under her sales team. Together they were able to pull the sales team out of a tough spot.
While Fuyutsuki gives Katori some advice about taking it easy on telling Otonashi his feelings all the time, Himoru gets jealous of Katori’s over-the-top expression and ices him out.
Keep the Love Developments Coming
As much as I love Fuyutsuki and Himoru, I loved the fact that we are now seeing the other possible couples’ development as well. I think it adds so much to the story, especially since each potential couple operates differently. Komori and Saejime are semi-direct with open flirting and jokey jokes, but they both manage to still get shy at certain times. Katori is head over heels for Otonashi and is direct with his feelings. While she hasn’t openly reciprocated yet, Otonashi hasn’t turned him down either.
Episode 6 comes out TODAY (yes, this review is late but it was my birthday lol,) so I’m excited to see what it has in store for the three couples moving forward. We are almost halfway through the season and each episode just warms my heart. I savor every moment and I don’t want it to end. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
