I’ll Go to See You Again Tomorrow is a boys’ love manga by Furu Kumayuki, published in English by Furu Kumayuki. Set in college, we meet Saku, a love obsessed student who can’t seem to stay in a relationship and not for lack of trying. When Misumi, an underclassmen, overhears him talking about his bad luck in love, Misumi becomes interested in getting to know him. Saku finds Misumi charming and thinks he can improve his luck in love if he just starts acting like Misumi. But when Misumi’s charm starts making his own heart race, Saku isn’t sure what to do next.
My Thoughts
One-shot stories are known for being a complete story, with the events of the story progressing fairly quick. Characters meet, a little bit a conflict, and then boom, happily ever after. Yet I’ll Go to See You Again Tomorrow manages to showcase falling in love like taking the long way home. A slow and tender walk, taking in the scenery, and appreciating all that the journey has to offer.
The chemistry between Saku and Misumi is pure fluff and it makes my own heart race. Misumi doesn’t think Saku’s grandiose ideas of love are silly and instead, that’s what makes him interested in Saku. He joins the same club and starts wanting to spend as much time with Saku as possible. Misumi’s approach is refreshing: no secret plan, no hidden moves. He genuinely wants to get to know Saku, even if he thinks it might not lead to anything. It’s no wonder Saku thinks he can learn from Misumi’s charm – it’s working on him!
Aside from the absolute cuteness of Saku and Misumi’s developing relationship, this story also explores how healing it can be to let someone in on your insecurities and fears. Even if people in the past may be turned off or push you away, the right person won’t. The inclusion of Misumi’s experience in the past only serve to highlight how much perfect Saku for him is in the now. These two are so deserving of each other and I can’t love them more!
