The story begins at a 10 year high school reunion were Riko returns home and attends solely for the chance to see her high school crush, Baba. To Riko’s surprise, Baba attends the reunion for the same reason. Not wanting to miss his chance, Baba follows Riko when she steps outside and kisses her! Baba is ready to make up for lost time but Riko pumps the breaks. When they both return to Tokyo, Baba is ready to move in! But Riko is set on making sure Baba’s really into her and what his intentions are moving forward.
My Thoughts
I can’t overstate how much I love First Love Reunion. It’s the total fantasy of reuniting with your high school crush and learning they also were crushing on you! Baba is so fun and sexy, and he is set on getting Riko this time around. Riko may seem like she’s getting swept up in Baba’s charm, but she’s not afraid to put her foot down, voice her thoughts, and put things into motion. Together their chemistry is intense. Their intimate moments feel so realistic and satisfying for the both of them. Riko may feel less inexperienced than Baba at times, but she’s so honest with herself, it’s refreshing to see. She’s willing to take charge, try new things, and express her pleasure.
Baba and Riko move FAST! Baba immediately wants to move in and lock things down. While this may feel unrealistic, I definitely think closer to your 30s, once you’re stable in life and know yourself, there are less risks to getting with someone quickly. You have the wisdom and security to be okay if the romantic relationship doesn’t pan out. Both Riko and Baba have built their lives and careers in the years spent apart. They both have their own safety nets if things didn’t work out. So what do they have to lose?? I love them essentially saying “fuck it” and diving right into a new life together.
Overall, First Love Reunion is an exciting and steamy read. It’s also testament to second chances, letting go of expectations and rules and going with the flow. Riko and Baba are so hot together! But also very cute and charming. I’d love to see more of them as their relationship grows but this quick taste was very satisfying too.
