  1. From the creator of Kamisama Kiss, comes a New Romantic comedy shojo that turns your typical vampire story on its head. When a vampire obsessed with an anime character moves to Japan to live her full fangirl dreams, she has no idea what is in store for her. She’s too busy wanting to attend the limited time cafes and collect acrylic stands to do the “typical vampire” biding. When she teams up with her neighbor for the sole purpose of acquiring more merch, she has no idea she’s basically attached herself to a vampire magnet.

Intro

  • Welcome back to TWOA I’m lisa
  • It’s been hard to ignore all the buzz about Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite because it’s coming from one of the greats, Julietta Suzuki.
  • Thank you to Viz & Netgalley for the ARC.

About

  • Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite began serialization In Hana to Yume in November 2022/ It is currently ongoing, with 6 volumes out currently Japan. Viz licensed it in English last year. Currently, there are 2 vols in english with the third releasing on April 1st.
  • In Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite, Hina is a vampire who is obsessed with an anime character named Mao. So much so that she moves to Japan to live out her best otaku life! She meets her neighbor Kyuta, and soon ropes him in to doing all her otaku activities (like eating special edition cafe food since vampires dont eat real food.)

My Thoughts So Far

  • Girl Vampire
    1. Its very common for vampire/human stories to feature a male vampire and a female human. I love that OVLB is the reverse. Already, that creates a fun and fresh dynamic from one that we’re used to
  • Whimsical Vampire
    1. Being that this is from Julietta Suzuki, I knew this would be a lighter vampire story but I love just how whimsical it is. Hina is so relatable as an otaku who moves to Japan to be immersed in her fandom, that’s every weebs dream come true
  • Chemistry with Hina and Kyuta
    1. obviously, we’re all rooting them on in terms of love! so far in volume one, it was light but I’m hoping more comes soon!

Conclusion

  • overall very cute, funny and exciting
  • curious to see how the story goes on, especially with the addition of new vampires seeking Kyuta out
