If you’re a millennial, you most likely first met Sailor Moon as Serena, not Usagi. We all know by now why the name was changed, among other things, but many of us won’t ever forget the distinct and iconic voice of the Sailor Moon we grew up with! That is the voice of actress Terri Hawkes! Since Sailor Moon, she’s also known for her work as Toast and Tempbot in Bee and PuppyCat, Baby Hugs Bear in Care Bears, Mrs. Hein in Lady Ada’s Secret Society, and more.
So if you’re a Sailor Moon fan or a Terri Hawkes fan, you won’t want to miss the chance to meet her on September 27th, at the second annual Magical Girls Festival. Located in Brooklyn, New York, the Magical Girls Festival is a free day-long celebration of magical girls. This one-of-a-kind event is a creation of Moonies Club, a creative production company dedicated to building inclusive and innovative community-centered events and media.
Magical Girls Festival is happening in Brooklyn’s Japan Village. It will include over 50 vendors, a maid café where attendees can create magical girl wands, and programming, a spotlight panel with Hawkes, and a Miraculous Ladybug-themed writing workshop led by comic book writer Carrie Harris (author of Miraculous Chibi Vol. 1). The entire list of programming can be found here.
I’ll be there, so I hope to see you there too!

OMG, I loved Bee and Puppycat! I had no idea Sailor Moon’s voice actress was also in that series. She just seems tod pick great series to be part of! I would love to go to the Magic Girl Fest, but unfortunately I’m on the wrong side of the continent.
