Hey y’all! Welcome to my little slice of the internet. My name is Lisa De La Cruz and the easiest way to describe what I do is to call myself a multimedia content creator. I run this blog, The Wonder of Anime, (formally The Wonder of Ivy) where all the things I do find a home. I write, sometimes a lot other times never. I create video content about anime or my daily life, and I host a podcast where I also talk about anime.
I’m 29 years old, first-generation Dominican born American, living in Reading, PA. I’ve been here since I was 10 so this is where I call home. I’m obsessed with my life. I love sleeping, eating, and taking care of myself: mind, body, and spirit. Besides anime, I’m into podcasts, playing video games (yes, I’m obsessed with Animal Crossing,) reading books (I’m on a romance kick this year,) mental health, and travel. I’m passionate about social justice, especially pertaining to Black lives, LGBTQ+ folks, and all of those living in the margins of the margins.
I’m married to a dope person who is sometimes described as my complete opposite and we’re raising a baby and our cute ass cat named Suki. My parents are my entire lives, I’m obsessed with my sisters, and I can’t live without my best friends.
I used to say The Wonder of Ivy brand was about storytelling. I used to interview people about their businesses or achievements, you may remember my Who To Watch series, or my local community events. That stuff was a lot of fun and a huge learning experience, but I realized that I was burning myself out creating content I was no longer passionate about. So I said, “fuck that” and started talking about something I LOVE: anime.
In late 2019, I started creating content revolving around anime. Attending conventions, making review videos, and then eventually cosplaying. It’s the weirdest thing, in the nichiest of niche things, I’ve been able to show out my creativity in ways never before. I’ve also been pushing myself out of my comfort zone, interviewing anime voice actors and other anime content creators I’m now happy to call friends. I’ve put myself out there in ways I never have before. Utilizing all the skills I’ve learned along the TWOI journey, I’ve been able to grow in my new subbrand, The Wonder of Anime.
If you’ve been following me from the beginning, then this may be new to you. You may find yourself not identifying with my content anymore and that’s okay! As we grow and evolve, the things that are FOR US truly start showing out and we can clearly see what isn’t for us.
If you’re new here, take a seat and buckle up. You’re in for quite the ride 😉
