Alexis was someone I knew about before I ever met her. She was friends with people that I knew and I would just creep on her Insta. She was my #womancrushwednesday! I thought she was just gorgeous! She exhibited so much confidence, and she was clearly a bad ass, traveling and doing Spartan races. I finally met Alexis in person two years ago and was just blown away! She was so nice and friendly. I would see her a few more times that summer and every time was just as nice as the last one. When Alexis started getting into being a health coach, I was like, “Damn, can she get any more amazing?” I look out for her daily snap chat videos or IG posts because they are so motivational! What she shares comes from the heart, and when she’s not motivating you to get up and work out, she’s reminding you to be grateful for your blessings. Alexis is a true badass with a heart of gold and for that, she’s this week’s Woman Crush Wednesday!

How and where do you find motivation?
I find motivation everywhere!! I find it on social media, through family and friends, reading books, and or even just walking down the street. I can never shut my mind off so whenever I see something that draws my attention, I immediately feed that feeling and begin to create whatever it is that inspired/motivated me. I believe it is so important that when you have that feeling of being motivated or inspired that you don’t let it pass by. That feeling you felt is very important because that is a feeling of something inside of you that must be released through whatever form you use to create whether that be through art, singing, dancing, acting, working out, or writing.
How do you decide what move to make next (school, work, ect)
If I were asked this question a year ago it would be completely different from what my answer is today. A year ago I would have said what I pictured my life to be and how I wanted it to go accordingly. I am very straightforward with myself and have always limited myself to a time restraint on when I need to accomplish the things I wanted to accomplish. As you can see there are a lot of ‘I’s.” It was what I wanted for myself when I wanted it and how I wanted it to happen. As I stand here today I can honestly say it is no longer “I” but is now what God has planned for me. I grew up Catholic my whole life but can honestly say that in 2016 I began to build a relationship with God. Without getting so deep, all I can say is that allowing myself to fully trust in him and letting go of all my wants and needs. He has led me to incredible things and for that I allow him to show me what my next move is.
How do you maintain work/life/activities balance?
With to do list!!! I am a firm believer that if you go to sleep prepared for the next day, you will be so many steps ahead for a successful upcoming day. Jotting down all that you need to accomplish/ want to accomplish will help you stay on track. You must be very detailed with your list. For example, the first thing on my list is to wake up. Yes, many of you may think that’s stating the obvious however to wake up and already check something off your list is a great feeling in knowing that you have already accomplished the first to do and that will set you up for the rest of the day!
Any time you took a risk that paid off?
It was always a dream of mine to move to California and so last year, February 2016, I took a risk and moved across the country. I didn’t have a job lined up or a place to stay. Talk about risky. When I first got out to California, I had a plan in mind and was excited to begin this new journey. As a couple months passed things did not go as planned. There was a point where I felt so alone. Many people would have thought otherwise because no matter what I go through in life I always remain positive. However, feeling alone was the best thing that has ever happen to me. During that time of loneliness is where I found God. I was never alone after all. Even though my relationship with him wasn’t the greatest he never left my side. If it weren’t for him I honestly would not be the person I am today mentally, spiritually, and physically. I advise everyone to take a risk because you never know where it can lead you. Is it scary at first? Absolutely, but it is so worth it in the end!
Any lessons you have learned the hard way?
I believe there are many lessons I have learned the hard way. All in which was triggered by one thing that I am still working on today which is PATIENCE. Patience is key. Let me repeat that patience is KEY!! The way I am wired is I am on “Go” all the time. My mind never shuts off and once I have an idea I run with it. Now many might not think this is a bad thing, which I believe isn’t, however, once I execute something and it doesn’t go as planned, I immediately get discouraged. I learned to not put time frames on when I need to accomplish my goal. A lot of ideas that I had I pushed off were pushed off because of how long it was taking me to reach it. That is not the case anymore and instead, consistency has come into play. Being consistent is all it takes to bring you closer to your goal. You must have faith in the unseen and believe that if you are in alignment with your goal God will do the rest of the work. Before you know it, you will look up and be living the life you’ve always dreamed of.
What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the woman I am today. Looking back at this past year I can honestly say that if I would have never moved to California, I wouldn’t be who I am today. That is not saying California changed me, but simply, my journey from being out there has changed my perspective on how I want to live life and how I am no longer afraid to express myself. I found God and in return found happiness. Just by being myself I helped motivate and inspire so many women. I loved being able to do that so much that I created a Women’s Empowerment page on Facebook. I created this page simply because I wanted a place where women can come to and share motivation and or what inspires them in hopes it helps motivate/inspire other women. I also created it for women to share things that they have gone through in hopes to prevent other women from going through it. At times, we women forget how powerful we are. I vow to stay committed to showing women that we are capable of so much more than we believe.
Who has influenced you the most?
Many people may find this crazy but Herbalife has influenced me the most. For those who don’t know Herbalife is a nutrition company in over 32 countries. I started my journey with Herbalife when I moved to California. At first, I thought it was just a nutrition company and I was strictly just looking to lose weight. As I was striving to accomplish my goal I began to fall in love with the community. Through Herbalife, I met some pretty amazing people. It was also through Herbalife that I found church and that is what led me to find God. Again, many people may think I am crazy, however, Herbalife is more than just a nutrition company. They are geared to inspiring and motivating others, not only in the business but in their personal lives as well. Before starting Herbalife, I had no idea what personal development was and now I can honestly say it has changed my life. I now read which is crazy to think because of how much I disliked it. I listen to audiobooks and attend success seminars.
What books have most impacted your life?
I was never a reader and can honestly say I disliked reading! Just this past year, however, I decided to quick making excuse as to why I disliked it and picked up my first book which was “You Are a Badass” by Jen Sincero. That book was a stepping stone for many books I’ve bought since. As you can see, I am big on personal development so I read a lot of self-help books simply because I find a lot of motivation from them. I also read “Destiny” By TD Jacks which was another phenomenal book. I am currently reading two books one is “The 5 Second Rule” By Mel Robbins and “Don’t Settle for Safe” By Sarah Jakes Roberts. Crazy to think just a year ago I was anti-reading and now have a collection of over 15 books!
What do you want to be remembered for?
I want to be remembered as a strong, empowering, inspirational, spiritual, impactful woman. I want to create a team of empowering, creative, in women and travel all around the word hosting women empowerment conferences. With creating a team and a foundation my legacy will live forever through not only my team but through all the lives I have impacted. Although I feel as though I’ve been through a lot, I know that this is only the beginning and before I leave this earth I will be sure to write a book about my journey here on earth in hopes it inspires others to walk in faith.
When do you think, it is okay to break the rules?
I don’t believe in limiting yourself to anything you may want to do in life. There are so many rules that are not universal and at times we tend to follow. I like to create my own rules and boundaries in my life. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not saying to go out and break legal rules! However, what I am saying is we must learn to get to know ourselves a little better. That might sound silly but honestly, you should look at it as dating yourself. Find out things that make you happy. Dig deep and figure out what you need to work on like what are your weaknesses, what are your strengths, where do you find motivation. Things like that will help set yourself up for success. When you figure out what you don’t like to do but need to do to reach your goal then that’s where rules come in. Set rules for yourself that are not restricting you but bettering you. We must align ourselves up so that we are ready to receive all the blessings that are in our lives and when it comes to alignment there are rules and boundaries we must set for ourselves to stay on track.
What values are you committed to?
Some core values I am committed to are loyalty, honesty, consistency, efficiency, and creativity. These all just a few in which I believe are a solid foundation to success. My number one core value is my belief in God. Without him, I would not be the women I am today. Being able to become so vulnerable to him and allowing myself to give my all to him was and still is very hard for me because I am still growing in my faith. Life can be very scary at times and we tend to try and control every bit of it. My advice to you all is to let that go. Let go of trying to do everything on your own. You are not alone. I would be lying if I said taking a leap of faith was easy but I can assure you that taking that leap was the best decision I have ever made. He has shown me that there is something over my life that is much greater than I could ever imagine. With that being said I will continue to allow God to work through me so that I can share with the world what he continues to do for me and assure you that he can do the same for you.
